best scale for packing airline baggage
Mon, 10/15/2007 - 21:46 — Anonymous
Hi, I travel by plane 4 or 5 times a year with equipment and need an accurate
scale to make sure my bags are not overweight (yes ... I was once 2 pounds
overweight and they made me fix that at the check-in). I'm looking for a low
cost, but quality unit. Typically I'm dealing with baggage limits of 50-100#s
depending on what class I'm traveling and out of country embargos. Ebay has a
number of 200-300# units for around $60-75 (scale plus shipping), but I'm
cautious about these "deals" and companies that are simply "middlemen". Any
suggestions? Thanks, Jonathan

I would suggest either
I would suggest either purchasing a 75lb shipping scale OR just buy a hanging
scale.
There is a cheap 50lb and 75lb model available at most luggage
stores that only costs about $9 (not very accurate but it will do the trick). If
you need me to find some for you please lmk and I'll do the research.

Thanks for the advice and info ... it helped a lot. I just found out that a
friend of mine has a Jennings J-Ship 130 in excellent condition for sale at a
very, very reasonable price. So I think I'll go that route as I can also use it
for UPS type shipping. All the best and thanks again, Jonathan
